Teignmouth Beach Huts
Surf Life Savers at Teignmouth with noone on the beach and no swimmers!
The road to the pub in Dorset
Narrow roads in the rain - just hope noone comes the other way!
Up bright and early, well about 9am (we were up late watching Badgers you know) and off to Luton in Devon. We had booked a B&B called Higher Rixdale Farm on a working farm to get a bit of the country life.
It rained on and off on the trip down so we didn't get to go to the Ottery which was a turn off on the highway. Good job we didn't as it turned out that it was a place name not a place where they breed Otters! Whoops. The Brits have some silly names.
Anyway we had intended to go to Torquay to look at the Hotel that was used in the Fawlty Towers series so we got Lyn's new book out which she bought recently which lists the actual places where all the British TV shows were made over the years. More disappointment though as it has been demolished.
We drove down to Teignmouth instead to have a look at this seaside town. Not much going on as it turned out as it was quite cold (19c) with a chilly wind. The beaches were pretty well deserted except for a bloke with a metal detector but the flags were out and the life saver was sitting in his warm hut. He had a sign outside his hut which said the sea temp was 14C. We had a chat with him as he had nothing else to do.
This evening, in the rain, we went to the local pub (The Elizabethan Inn) for dinner. Lovely pub and great food. Every village seems to have at least one pub. The road to the pub was much too narrow for Lyn so she had a Pimms to get up the courage to travel home! See pics.
It's started to pour with rain as Mick sits and writes this. They need the rain.
